GCSE Business Studies Dragon's Den
Year 10 GCSE Business Studies pupils were put through their paces by taking part in a Dragons' Den style event, held in the Rec, on Wednesday 22nd February.
Learning about how to set up a successful business, students have been working in teams to create a business plan to present to the ‘dragons’, members of the local community and real life entrepreneurs, who in the style of the popular BBC TV asked questions and grilled the students on their plans.
Business ideas ranged from earbuds with expanding earpieces to a language app translator, but the idea deemed ‘most likely to succeed’ was from ‘Team Diamedics’, who devised an insulin pump for diabetic patients with a new glucagon chamber.
One of the judging panel (Mr Hugh North) commented, "All of the Year 10 teams met a very high standard and it was a great feeling to share such a positive experience with Gordon School’s students, teachers and parents. I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience as a ‘Dragon’; most specifically interacting with the students who impressed me immensely.”
