ESTATES MASTER PLAN
Aside from enhancing our extensive sporting and creative arts facilities, the Estates Master Plan will also improve teaching facilities, boarding and visitor experience across the site.
A major five year, £1 million refurbishment of Residential Boarding Houses was begun in the Summer of 2022 with two boys' Houses, Sandringham and Balmoral, benefiting first. As well as updating bathrooms and study rooms, the refurbishment has improved the living accommodation.
In 2021 we opened our Sports Hall next to the existing all-weather pitch. This significant and much-need investment also included upgrading the car parking and lighting on the north side of the estate. There is also a second 3G all-weather pitch in front of the Sports Pavilion. The facilities were further improved in 2022 with the addition of a 150 square metre Fitness Suite, officially opened by the Earl of Wessex in January 2023.
In September 2019 Woolwich House, the school's 11th House, opened for our youngest Residential Boarders, providing co-educational residential accommodation for Year 7 entrants to the School, giving them the opportunity to settle into Gordon's life in a smaller and more bespoke environment.
A six-classroom mathematics teaching block, the Nile Building, opened in September 2018. The new building replaces the out-dated three-classroom geography teaching block and allows, for the first time, the Mathematics Department to have a single department area in the school bringing clear advantages for collaboration and teaching and learning.
Future plans include converting the old school Gymnasium into a Performing Arts Centre.
