Rafting, paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking, archery, axe throwing and climbing - just some of the high octane adventures for CCF students on Army camp this week in Folkstone. A fantastically enjoyable experience for all of them.
A Service in St George's Church, Ypres to dedicate a plaque to the 156 Gordon boys who gave their lives in World War 1. The Service was led by the School Chaplain, the Reverend Graham Wright and attended by members of the Gordon's Pipes and Drums Band. Afterwards, the students marched through Ypres to the Menin Gate for the Last Post Association Remembrance Service
The National Schools Golf finals at Worplesdon Golf Club saw the leaderboards turn green as Gordon’s dominated both the scratch and stableford competitions. In the Stableford Team event, Gordon’s teams clinched first and second and places and in the individual stableford tournament, Gordon’s were placed in seven of the top ten places including the first three! A fantastic end to the season. Congratulations to all the golfers.
The end of the school year marked in true Gordon’s style this afternoon with the 139th Prize Giving and Annual Inspection. The 20th anniversary of China was also celebrated! Guest of Honour was Chairman of the Gordon Foundation Lieutenant General Richard Cripwell CB CBE. While umbrellas were the order of the day, the rain failed to dampen this very special occasion in the school calendar.
Cultural Arts Day for Year 12 students who are being introduced to a multitude of cultures and faiths as well as learning about yoga, Indian dance, Ghana drumming and Meedu Peace through Knowledge. Olympian Marilyn Okoro talked about her track and field career and faith and also put students through their paces!
Young voters making their choices in the Gordon’s General Election, which has mirrored the national one taking place today. Student candidates, supported by their agents and marketing teams, representing the six political parties in the Surrey Heath constituency. Results out tomorrow. Will the Gordon’s result reflect that of the national elections?
Hundreds of students and staff sent all over the county and country to make a difference today. Clearing graves and churchyard gardening at Bisley and Holy Trinity Churches; litter-picking on Brentmoor Heath, Littlehampton beach, West Wittering beach and Newland’s Corner, visiting residents at Princess Christian Care Centre, Horsell Lodge Care Home, Woking and White Lodge; helping with activities for children at Carwarden House School and Tringham Pre-School and much, much more!
They came, they saw, they conquered the Parade Square! Year 11s arrived in stretch limos, tuk tuks, convertibles, high performance and vintage cars and one vehicle pulled by Houseparent Mr Sinclair! A fantastic finale to their school year.
What a night! Summer Arts brought together talented musicians, singers, dancers and artists from all over the community onto the Front Field at Gordon's. Students, parents, staff and children from nearby Holy Trinity Church of England School provided the ultimate in entertainment. A great evening enjoyed by all.
